Frenchmen St. musician shoots gutter punk in self-defense (LA)
OpSD --The NOPD is backing a musician`s claim that he shot a man outside a Marigny nightclub in self-defense. Some think the confrontation escalated due to what locals are calling the growing epidemic of gutter punks.

Woman shoots ex in chest as he beat her, tried ‘to get answers’ (MN)
OpSD --A man is facing charges following a domestic dispute earlier this month which resulted in his ex-girlfriend shooting him in the chest inside her Mounds View, Minnesota, home. The victim told authorities that Daniel Carlson had previously rented a room in her basement, but the two developed a romantic relationship while he was staying there. However, she attempted to end the relationship with Carlson earlier this month, asked him to move out of her home and took his house key.

Gunfight Breaks out During Home Invasion (TX)
OpSD --The owner of the lot and his daughter were sleeping when they heard the door being knocked down. A woman who works on the lot said three or four armed men wearing masks yelled at the homeowner to get on the ground. The homeowner ended up exchanging gunfire with them. “He grabbed his own weapon for self defense and he started shooting at them because they started shooting at him too,” the woman said.

Southgate police: Teen shot, killed after breaking into neighbor's home (MI)
OpSD --Southgate police say a 16-year-old is dead after breaking into his neighbor's home early Thursday morning and being shot by the homeowner. The incident happened just before 5 a.m. in the 15000 block of Flanders Street, just south of Eureka Road. Southgate Director of Public Safety Thomas Coombs said the 74-year-old homeowner got his gun when he heard the teen break in.
